2023年第二届成都国际摄影周即将在成都举行。第十三届全国政协常委、第九届中国文学艺术界联合会副主席李前光，对本次成都国际摄影周表达了最诚挚的祝愿，并为本次成都国际摄影周撰写总序：“时代影像 万千气象”。

成都国际摄影周是在全球肆虐新冠病毒、人类充满困惑焦虑的背景下横空出世的，以高品质的视觉样貌吸引十万观众走进影像空间，引发中国摄影界的热议和国际艺术人士的瞩目。疫情防控时期创办活动需要勇气和智慧，我们从中看到了成都人民在追求美好生活道路上的坚韧不拔和使命担当。

成都作为中国西南地区的中心城市，有着2300多年的历史，是中国早期文明的重要发源地之一。天府之国，山川形胜。古老与现代，传统与时尚，在这块土地上相融共生。从当年争取中国音乐最高奖“金钟奖”落地成都之气魄，我就切身感受到了这个城市对文化的渴望和对明天的期盼。

成都国际摄影周的异军突起，得力于这片底蕴深厚的土地，得力于国际大都市的战略发展，得力于一支执著梦想的文艺队伍。

在诸多艺术门类中摄影是最年轻的，也是最活跃的，更是与时代联系最密切的。反映时代是其秉性铸定，紧跟时代是其物理属性。

摄影是与人民大众最亲近的一门艺术。时代的发展让摄影“飞入寻常百姓家”，无论在现实社会的人文交流，还在微信等数字世界的信息传播，成为现代人类沟通的语言工具和重要的生存方式，每个人都可以用影像符号表达自我。在全民摄影的时代，摄影家如何走在学术的前沿？这是我们必须面对的挑战。

影像是世界语言，万国通识，人人可辨。不同种族、不同地域的人民都可以在视觉元素中寻找彼此认知世界。

成都国际摄影周是摄影家的盛会，中外摄影人在此沟通交流，穿越视觉弥漫，校准坚实焦点。

以“成都：时代影像·天府气象”为主题的本届摄影周，分设“世界影像”“天府气象”“时代面向”三个板块，推出十三大主体展览、七大平行展，集中展示中国、法国、西班牙等81个国家和地区超2000幅（组）影像作品。用摄影家的杰出创造展现人类与自然的文化视点，而影像以其生动的语言诠释时代的万千和城市的气象。

成都是一座来了就不想走的城市，天府之国也将成为中外摄影人神往的远方。

The Chengdu International Photography Festival emerged against the backdrop of a global pandemic that enveloped humanity in confusion and anxiety. It captivates a hundred thousand spectators with its high-quality visual spectacle, sparking fervent discussions within the Chinese photography community and garnering attention from international art connoisseurs. Staging an event amid pandemic prevention and control requires courage and wisdom, in which we saw the indomitable spirit and sense of mission of the people of Chengdu on their quest for a better life.

As the central city in southwest China, Chengdu boasts a history of over 2,300 years and stands as an important birthplace of early Chinese civilization. Known as the "Land of Abundance", it features picturesque landscapes where ancient and modern, tradition and fashion find harmonious coexistence. Ever since the ambitious landing of the prestigious "Golden Bell Award" for Chinese music, I have sensed first-hand the city's eagerness for culture and anticipation for the future.

The meteoric rise of the Chengdu International Photography Festival is rooted in the profound cultural heritage of this land, bolstered by the strategic development of an international metropolis, and propelled by an artistic team with a passion for dreams.

Among various art forms, photography is the youngest, yet the most vibrant and closely connected to the times. Its intrinsic nature lies in reflecting the spirit of the age, and its physical attribute is to keep pace with the era.

Photography is the art form closest to the general public. The evolution over time has allowed it to "reach ordinary households", whether in the humanistic exchanges of real-world society or the information dissemination in the digital realm such as WeChat. It has become a language tool and a vital means of expression in modern human communications, enabling everyone to articulate themselves through visual symbols. In the age of universal photography, how can photographers tread on the forefront of academia? This is the challenge we must face.

Imagery serves as a universal language, transcending borders and cultures, intelligible to all. People of different races and regions can find a mutual understanding of the world through visual elements.

The Chengdu International Photography Festival stands as a grand gathering for photographers, providing a platform for exchanges between domestic and international photographers. Amidst the pervasive visual landscape, it serves as a focal point for aligning perspectives.

It is heartening to witness the robust enhancement in the planning of this edition of the Photography Festival, which reflects the organizers' steadfast belief in creating a symbol of visual culture for Chengdu.

With a spirit of staying true to tradition while innovating, an ethos of openness and inclusivity, and a broad and lofty vision, this edition achieves new breakthroughs in aspects such as participating artists, presentation of works, venue facilities, and exhibition formats. The distinct characteristics of artistry, diversity, academic touch, and internationalism are further highlighted.

Contributing to the world-famous cultural city with first-class artistic standards, it gathers photographers at a new historical starting point, aligns with the era, resonates with the people, engages in a global dialogue, and bravely scales new heights of the arts.

This year's Photography Festival, themed "Chengdu: Image of Times · Tianfu Atmosphere", is divided into three sections: "World Image", "Tianfu Atmosphere", and "Facing the Times". It will feature thirteen major exhibitions and six parallel exhibitions, showcasing over 2,000 image works from 76 countries and regions, including China, France, and Spain, among others. Through the remarkable creations of photographers, it seeks to present the cultural perspectives of man and nature, interpreting the myriad facets of the era and the atmosphere of the city through the dynamic language of imagery.

Chengdu is "a city that you don't want to leave once you come", and the "Land of Abundance" is poised to become a haven sought after by photographers from both China and abroad.

"Art is needed by the people, and art needs the people," and "the rejuvenation of a nation requires not only robust material strength but also powerful spiritual force." It is believed that the hosting of the 2nd Chengdu International Photography Festival will not only enrich the city with culture, elevate the spiritual lives of its residents, bolster up the city's influence and reputation, and contribute the power of imagery to the goal of building Chengdu into a world-famous cultural city; it will also play an important role in the prosperity of photography in China. Moreover, photography is not just a unique art form but also a trendy medium. Through the lens of "Image of Times · Tianfu Atmosphere", readers in Chengdu will witness a colorful world, while the world, through the universal language of imagery, will see the charm of Chengdu and the beauty of China!
